Howell Walker "Woody" Woodward of Covington passed away Aug. 7 at Riverside Nursing Home. He was born in 1935 in Ola to Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Woodward. He was a loving husband and was known to many as Uncle Woody. He was a member of Luther Hays Presbyterian Church and the Covington Elks Lodge. He loved camping, watching NASCAR and Georgia Tech football, working in his yard and taking care of the pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Woody is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jane Woodward; sister, Elsie Blair of Oxford; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jim Brooks of Oxford; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Alexis Woodward of Covington; sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jean and Mike Whatley of Covington; nieces, Lori Cain, Theresa and James Robinson, Allison and Kent Haralson, Michelle and Randall Donaldson, Carin DeBoer, Dawn and Mark Eldred; nephews, Lauren Whatley, Scott and Margie Blair, Chuck Woodward, Craig and Whitney Woodward, Cale and Pam Brooks; and 19 grand-nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Woodward, sister, Faye Huckaby and brother, Norris Woodward.

Services will be held at noon, Aug. 10, at chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Dr. James W. Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 9.
