Guy Tucker, age 77, of Oxford, Ga., passed away on January 22, 2016. Guy had complications from chemo therapy after a brave and long battle with Lymphoma. Guy was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Hazel Tucker, Mom Polly, his siblings, Rose, Walter and Margie, and his only son, Mike. Guy is survied by his wife of 44 years, Margaret and his daughter, Melanie and her husband, Johnny, children: Donna, Brian, Jonathan and Trey, Katie, and son, Landyn, and Lynn & Bobby Kirkland and their son David. He is also survived by his son's wife Melinda Pittman of College Station, Texas and their children, Amber and Adam Anthony with their children, Grace and James Michael of Houston, Texas and Matt and his wife Brandi of Stafford, Texas. He is also survived by his very special nephew, John Painter of Piedmont, Alabama along with his wife, Carol and their children, Mary of Gulf Shores, AL, Amanda and Kelly of Piedmont, AL, along with their husbands and children. He is survived by a step-siblings, Shirley Rhinehart. Piedmont, Al., Jack Tucker of Rockhill, South Carolina.

Guy grew up with his large loving family attending Arrington's Chapel, in the Piedmont area, attended Macedonia Baptist Church, Oxford, and currently attended Eastridge Community Church in Covington. He was a member of the "Joyful Noise" small group (35), and another special group of friends that he fellowshipped with regularly.

Guy grew up in the Piedmont, Alabama area and attended Jacksonville State College. He then served in the U. S. Army during the Berlin crisis.He has been retired from Amoco Oil Company for 25 years where he worked for aproximately 30 years, starting in Atlanta and ending in Des Moines.

After retirement, he returned to Newton County for nearness to family and to return to our roots. Guy is also the son-in-law of Granny and PawPaw McElreath, deceased. After his retirement, he was the manager of the Gum Creek Voting Prescint for over twenty years, following in his mother-in-law's foot-steps. Guy was well known for his cooking. He cooked the Wednesday night dinners at Macedonia Baptist Church, Oxford, Ga. for over ten years touching many lives.

Funeral Services for Mr. Tucker will be held Sunday, January 24, 2016, 3 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with Rodney Ragsdale (Guy's cousin), Dave Nelson and Scott Moore officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation one hour prior to the service from 2–3 p.m.
