Geraldine Mills, of Covington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at the age of 77 in the presence of her loved ones. Mrs. Mills was a treasured member of both the Newton and Rockdale Education communities. Her education career began notably as the secretary for Newton County’s first integrated middle school. She was active in championing underprivileged children in both counties as well as supporting missions in Brazil. A loving wife and mother, spending time with her family and friends was her greatest joy. She liked traveling, shopping, reading, playing basketball and softball. Mrs. Mills also excelled at accounting and bookkeeping. She was a compassionate and caring person who loved her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. A. (Richard Allan) Mills, mother, Auzzie Lott, sisters, Jackie Wilson, Frankie Wilson, Gladys Newby, and Joyce Waldrop, brothers, Richard Lott, Floyd Lott and Tommy Lott.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her daughter, Denise Mills, son, Keith Mills, honorary daughter, April Sharee Rees, sister, Aileen Palmer, honorary sister, Dawna Cannon, brother, Bill Lott, numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of dedicated friends.
Visitation will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory 11405 Brown Bridge Road on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. A memorial service for Mrs. Mills will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev.
