Mrs. Geraldine G. Rider of Covington, age 81, passed away November 6, 2015.  She was born in Porterdale, Ga on February 21, 1934 to the late Grover and Reba Garner.  Mrs. Rider dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed reading and doing her puzzle books.  Mrs. Rider also loved to travel to the mountains and Bojangles was one of her favorite places to eat.  She played for the original women’s Porterdale softball team in the 60s sponsored by the Bibb Manufacturing Company.  Mrs. Rider was preceded in death by her husband; B.F. Rider, brothers; Odell Garner, James Garner, Paul Garner, and brother-in-law; Felton Ellington.  She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Bennie (Cricket) Rider (Jeaneen) and Steve Rider (Vicki), daughter; Tina Rice her grandchildren; Amanda Hannah (Chris), Nick Rider (Brittany), Adrienne Williams (Jacob), Carl Rider (Kristy), Casey Rider (Kati), John Rice, Jacob Rice and Molly Rice her great-grandchildren; Liam Hannah, Rowan Hannah, Cora Belle Rider, Tucker Williams, Hudson Rider, and Ella Rider along with her sister; Willie Mae Ellington and her brother; Wade Garner.  Mrs. Rider is also survived by numerous other family members and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rider will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday, November 9, 2015 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Cheek officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1pm until service time on Sunday.   J.C.
