Gary Walker, 77, of Covington, passed away December 24, 2013. In 1953, Mr. Walker started Walker Transmission, Inc., in Atlanta, and had five shops operating at one time. He was a hardworking man and had an incredible work ethic when running his business. Mr. Walker enjoyed watching sports and was always willing to help anyone he could. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Walker; and his parents, William and Lilly Mae (Freeman) Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Mavis Walker; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Tonya Walker of Lawrenceville and Chris and Kathy Walker of Loganville; son, Scott Walker and his partner, Jack Greer of Covington; stepchildren, Karen Boyd Carr and Mark Carr, Roger and Gwen Boyd, all of Covington; grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey, Mark, Hannah, Beth, Jennifer and Jessica; step-grandchildren, Briana, Brandon, Jonathon, Cameron, and Cirsten; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Johnny Kyzer; brothers, Rhett Walker and Disque Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 27 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Pastor Matt Murphy officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
