Allen Mrs. Frances Johnson Allen of Brunswick, Ga., formerly of Covington died May 10, 2010. Mrs. Allen was born in Mansfield, Ga. to the late Albert and Annie Wynn Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Newton County until moving to Brunswick 10 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington and the Joy Bearers Sunday School Class. She was also a charter member of the Covington Pilot Club, a member of the Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Elkadettes. Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her husband James A. (Jack) Allen, Sr. in 1990. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Jim and Janet Allen of Houston, TX, daughter and son in law Patricia and Shaw McVeigh of Brunswick, Ga., grandchildren Erin Vandre, Kate Carter, Lindsey Housson, Craig Allen and seven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 15, 2010 at 11:00 am at Carmel Cemetery in Mansfield with Bishop Shaw McVeigh officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington. Friends may sign the online register at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
