Frances G. Stark, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at 85 years of age. Mrs. Stark was the oldest child of S.A. and Lois (Spears) Ginn of Covington. She graduated from Agnes Scott College, and earned a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Stark married John A. Stark of Lawrenceville, GA, a former Navy pilot and a Georgia Tech engineer, who, according to him, “saved her from being an old maid and wearing gloves.” They lived in Clearwater, Florida, before settling in Atlanta where they raised three children whom they loved dearly. The Starks retired in 1995 to Covington. Mrs. Stark loved her Sunday School classes, bridge groups, and all of her other clubs and groups. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Stark was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John A. Stark; parents, S.A. and Lois (Spears) Ginn; sister, Martha Ellen McCord, and brother, Rucker Ginn.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lois S. and Felix Peña of Fairfax, VA, Elizabeth S. and Donald Dorsey of Dayton, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen J. and Naomi Stark of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; grandchildren, Melita Peña, Carla Peña, Cameron Dorsey, John Dorsey, Danielle Dorsey, Rachel Dorsey, J.D. Stark, Marjorie Stark, Katherine Stark, Jacob Stark; sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Alford, of Lawrenceville, Stephanie and Billy Fortson of Covington; sister-in-law, Sally Ginn, of Covington; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Stark will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher St., NE, Covington, with Rev. Tim Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens, Altha Street, Lawrenceville. Friends may visit with her family at the church, in the Callaway room, prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Stark’s memory to First Baptist Church of Covington.
