Mrs. Elsie Mae Hodges Chaplin, 87, of Stockbridge, died Jan. 31. She was born in Walnut Grove, the daughter of Richard Preston Guthrie and Gaynell Castleberry Guthrie. She was also preceded in death by her husbands Raymond Thomas Hodges and Robert Lee Chaplin, and son Richard Preston Hodges.

Mrs. Chaplin is survived by her children Arlin and Sandra Hodges of Covington; Janet and Tom Jenkins of Tucker; Wanda Hodges Cardell of Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church of Jonesboro, with the Rev. Preston Lowe and the Rev. Wade Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family received friends yesterday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home.
