Born in Newton County, Mrs. Chandler was the daughter of the late Marvin and Sara Shepherd Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Haskell Chandler Sr. A resident of Social Circle, Elinor retired from Newton County after 20 years of service as director of Human Resources. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington and Covington Pilot Club. She enjoyed taking care of her five grandchildren and spending time with her friends.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Edie and Edd Lowe of Athens; son and daughter-in-law Jack and Wendy Chandler of Evans; daughter Elaine Chandler of Athens; grandchildren Andrew, Caleb, Kenan and Landon Chandler, all of Evans and Sara Mack Lowe of Athens; sisters Ruby Dell Crawley, Hester Niblett; brother Ronald Johnson; numerous sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held a noon today, Dec. 31, at First Presbyterian Church of Covington with the Rev. Billy Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial park. Pallbearers include Lanier Crawley, Ed Niblett, Greg Harper, Scott Harper, Wally Johnson and Jerry Smith. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Covington.
