Eddie L. Byrd, of Conyers, passed away Jan. 1. after battling Leukemia AML for four months. He was born in Porum, Okla., in 1935, honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and graduated from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Okla., with a double major. He was married to the former Gerre Gale Engard of Tulsa, Okla., and transferred with Texaco to Georgia in 1971 and was a resident of Conyers for 27 years. He was preceded by his daughter Annie (Ann Elizabeth Byrd) and his parents Everett and Irene Tarkington Byrd.
Surviving are wife Gerre Byrd; sons and daughters-in-law Tommy and Jill Resnick Byrd of Conyers and Scott and Kim Williams Byrd of Villa Rica; five precious grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 at Gateway Community Church, 11677 Brown Bridge Road.
