 Mr. Ed Martin of Oxford passed away May 16, 2010 at Newton Medical Center at the age of 64.  A life long resident of Newton County, he was born in Covington to the late Ollie Eugene and Mary Alice (Owens) Martin.   Mr. Martin purchased City Motors from E.J. Shannon, which he owned and operated for 4 years, and had also owned and operated Pure Oil Station on Hwy. 278 for a number of years.  He enjoyed racing go-carts, drag racing and was a member of Georgia Rail.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda L. Martin of Oxford; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Kenneth Brown, Dodie and Jr. Brown all of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie (Bubba) and Crystal Martin of Oxford; sisters, Barbara Daniels, Gail Cook; brother, James Martin all of Covington; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Brad Brown, Lindsay Brown, Libby Porter, Kristen Brown, Dawson Martin, Dixie Martin; great-granddaughter, Carleigh Hardegree; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Martin will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2010, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road with Pastor Chris Allen officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 1:00 until 3:00P.
