Deacon Johnnie Vaughn, Jr. was born on June 25, 1953, in Covington, Georgia. He was the oldest child of the late Mr. & Mrs. Johnie B. (Shirley) Vaughn Sr.

Deacon Vaughn joined Bethel Bara Baptist Church at an early age. He served faithfully in various positions at the church.
He was called from labor to rest on Monday, August 5, 2014.

He is survived by one daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Demetris (Melissa) Mathis, one grandchild, Demetris Mathis, one brother, Mr. & Mrs. Earl (Cecelia) Vaughn, one sister, Ms. Cheryl Vaughn, nieces, Mr. & Mrs. Jay (Lakita) Morgan, Ms. Markita Vaughn, Ms. Earlisha Vaughn and Ms. Chelsea Ellington, and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Funeral services were be held Saturday, August 9, 2014, 3 p.m., at Bethabara Missionary Baptist Church, 11392 Highway 36, Covington, GA 30014. Internment was held at bethabara Memorial Garden. Ezell Brown, Morris hester, Melvin Cooksey, Paul Nolley, Charles Green, Charles Smith, Almond Turner, Michael Turner served as pallbearers. Faye Baker, Deborah Simmons, Kinberly L. Franklin, Shay Simmons, Melissa Moreland and Shanna Soloman served as flower attendants.

The family of Deacon Johnnie Vaughn, Jr., is sincerely grateful for the comforting expressions of sympathy, extended during our bereavement. Your concern helped us to bear our loss with great courage and spiritual strength; you have been a constant source of strength and peace.
