James Curtis Johnson
affectionately known as "Buddy" was a beloved father, grandfather, great granddaddy, brother, nephew, neighbor and friend, answered his Master's call on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 while surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved.
*Born February 28, 1936, Buddy was the second of eleven children born to the late James Oliver and Marion Zackery Johnson, who preceded him in death. Later on he was also preceded in death by a brother Craig, his son Farrell, and 3 sisters, Essie, Deloria and Jacquelyn..
*After graduating from Washington Street School in 1955, Buddy began working for the Bibb Manufacturing Company.  And in 1958 he married the former Mae Ola Carter and to this union were three sons, Charles, Farrell and Marvin. During their 43 year marriage, Buddy and  Mae worked to provide for their family and upon both their retirement from Lithonia Lighting Company, they lived their lives enjoying their children, family, and life with all it had to offer by doing whatever they chose to do until the Lord whispered Mae's name in 2001 and she answered.  After which he rejoined the work force at the Newton County Board of Education as a bus monitor where he worked faithfully until his final retirement.
*During the early years of his life, he joined the Good Hope Baptist Church. Even though he served on several boards, his passion was the Deacons Board, where he served as Chairman  for over 18 years.
*Buddy's transition leaves many to cherish his memories, especially his sons Charles and Marvin; his grandchildren,  Nicholas &  Crystal Foster, Akeria & Sean Quinn,  Marvelous and Malik Johnson, and 1 great grand daughter, Rain; his siblings, Mrs. Marion Baker, Dea. & Minister Arthur(Eunice) Johnson, Dea. & Mrs. Willie Harold(Bertha) Johnson,  Mr. & Mrs. Larry (Tereta) Harris, Dea. & Mrs. Charles (Valencia) Johnson and Mr. & Mrs. Egenoise (Harriet) Martin. An uncle, Dea. & Mrs. Richard (Polly) Johnson, Jr.; one aunt Mrs. Elizabeth Zackery, and Ms. Maxine Davenport and Ms. Loretta Heard whom he loved dearly as his daughters, and Ms.  Joanne Serieaux, his very special friend and beloved companion.
*There is  a long list of cousins, friends, co-workers, neighbors and acquaintances who will cherish their memories of time spent visiting and having conversations with Buddy because he touched many lives in many ways.   We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
