David Paul Goff of Covington quietly passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1940 to Opal Arthur and W. B. “Bill” Goff in Richwood, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters – Betty Ann Kelley, Billie Louellen Boone, Rebecca Lynn Goff and a son, Michael David Goff.
He attended West Virginia Tech before beginning a 40-year career with AT&T Long Lines as a communications technician and later as an engineering associate. He transferred with the company in 1969 to Atlanta where he remained until his retirement in late 1999. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout troop leader and baseball coach. David’s hobbies included church activities, camping and working with mechanical and electrical projects. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Goff, children - Debra Goff Kelley, Martha Vandiver, Melinda Clarke, Steven Goff (Lorri), Rodney Goff (Corinna), Paul Goff (Kristie) and Matthew Goff (Carley). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 28 at Crosspointe Church located at 252 Byrd Road in Oxford. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. followed by his celebration of life service. The family has requested no flowers; instead a donation may be given to Crosspointe Church in his memory.
