David Hood, age 60, of Covington passed away May 24, 2015. He was born in Covington on November 7, 1954 one of the first ten babies born at Newton General Hospital. Graduated from Newton County High School and went Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College graduating with a degree in horticulture and while attending college worked at Callaway Gardens. David was the grounds superintendent for several golf course throughout his career including Hidden Hills and Cross Creek golf courses.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Allen Hood and he is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Hood; his mother Elon Rebecca “Becky” Hood of Albany; sons: Billy Southwood of Conyers and David Macallen “Mac” Hood of Washington DC; sister Carol Rebecca Hood Fullerton (Gregory) of Albany; nephew Christopher Fullerton (Dr. Josephine Taverna) of Tucson, AR and niece Elizabeth Fullerton of Atlanta.
