Mr. Darrell Kennedy Nolley died Nov. 20. He was born in 1961, the son of Myrtis Nolley and the late Charles Lynch. Mr. Nolley was raised and educated in Newton County. At 11, he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oxford, where he sang in the church choir. As a teen, he played football and basketball for the Covington Recreation Department. He studied martial arts. A lover of music, Mr. Nolley played the trumpet and guitar. Mr. Nolley was a dedicated worker, employed at The Covington News and Oxford College; on occasion, he did construction work. A very easy-going and friendly person, Darrell had a humble spirit and always exhibited kindness to all those whose lives he touched.
Surviving are mother Mrs. Myrtis N. Smith; brother Mr. and Mrs. John (Cheryl) Smith; sisters ms. Rebecca Blackwell, Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Tillie) Mitchell, Ms. Deidre Nolley, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Letitia) McClure; half brother and sisters the Rev. and Mrs. Cedric (Michele) Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Holly Lunch) Loyd, Ms. Loretta Lynch; aunts Mrs. Bernice Thomas, Evangelist Lenora Williams, Mrs. Peggy Cofield; uncles Mr. Leon Nolley, Mr. Greg Shy, Mr. Anthony Shy; nieces Peinese, April, Danyale, Shun, Alicia, Arielle, Nekengre, Brittany, Terreicia, Diamond, Meagan, Siarra; nephews Aaron, Demetrius, Antoine, Mario, Maurice, Cedric Jr.; great-nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Oxford, with the Rev. James Nolley officiating. Interment followed at Sims Chapel Baptist Church.
