Cornelia Morton Smith, 88, of Oxford, passed away June 6. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking, reading, nature and animals - especially butterflies, and she enjoyed writing letters. Mrs. Smith was a devoted Christian and she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Reaves Jr., son Marvin Chetfield Smith, parents Lowe William and Nealie (Meiere) Smith, sister Emily Jewel Smith Florence and her brothers William Lowe "June" Smith Jr. and Weldon Eugene Smith.
Survivors include her son Arlen Blaine Smith of Oxford; grandchildren Kimberly Ann Smith; Arlen Blaine Smith Jr. of Lilburn; Derrick Smith of Covington; Courtney Smith Standard of Covington; Brittney Smith of Boca Raton, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Joseph Standard Jr. and Jesse Standard; sister Evelyn Smith Bosarge of Duluth; brother Theodore D. (Buddy) Smith of Atlanta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held yesterday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington. The Rev. Mike Wadley officiated and interment followed in Smith Family Cemetery, in Maxeys.
