Charles Ramey, of Covington, passed away Aug. 15, 2017, at 72 years of age. Mr. Ramey moved to Covington in 1982. He was Equipment Maintenance Manager for the City of Covington. A member of Harvest Baptist Church for 17 years, he was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Playing banjo was his outlet for a love of bluegrass music. Western movies and shows, as well as riding horses, earned him the reputation as a cowboy. Known also as a great provider, Mr. Ramey will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.H. and Mae Pauline (Lowe) Ramey; sister, Connie Barnard; and brother, Henry Ramey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Cheryl Ramey; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Julie Ramey of Loganville, Edgar and Traci Ramey of Buckhead; sisters, Jean Coker of Marietta, Monna Reagin of Newborn, Donna Ramey of Dublin; brother, Wayne Ramey of Aquadelea, CA; grandchildren, Patrick Ramey, Josh Ramey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Ramey will be held Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, 2 p.m., at Harvest Baptist Church, 2075 Hwy. 212, in Covington, with Rev. Richard Culpepper officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with his family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Thursday, Aug. 17, from 6 - 8 p.m.
