Charles H. “C.H.” Berry, Jr. of Covington, age 92, passed away November 26, 2016, at his home in Almon surrounded by his family. Mr. Berry served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a carpenter and farmer all his life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Mr. Berry was the proud owner of Berry’s Christmas Tree Farm in Covington, and served as County Commissioner for Newton County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Mattie Lou (Owens) Berry, Sr.
“C.H.” is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Hilda E. Berry; children, Charles and Jeanette Berry, Linda Berry, all of Covington; grandchildren, Chuck and Lori Berry, Christy and Scoot Allen, all of Covington; great-grandchildren, Chase Berry, Anslee Allen, Hartlee Allen, Taylor and Amanda McCart, Nathan McCart, all of Covington; step-grandchildren, Matt Tumlin of Monticello, Mark Tumlin of Covington; two nieces; one nephew.
Funeral Services for Mr. Berry will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016, 11 a.m., at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 10 Almon Church Road, Covington, with Rev. Mike Wadley and Rev. Dr. Royeese Stowe officiating. Interment with military honors to follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with his family Monday, November 28, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Berry’s memory to Shiloh United Methodist Church, or the Georgia FFA Foundation (New Ag Center), 720 FFA FHA Camp Road, Covington, GA, 30014.
