Mrs. Carol Ann Hooker died Dec. 17. The daughter of Mr. Alston Emanuel and the late Mrs. Ida Pollard Emanuel, she was born in 1939. Mrs. Hooker was raised and educated in Metuchen (Middlesex County), N.J. She was a graduate of Metuchen High School and Drake College, class of 1962. Combining intelligence, hard work and an impeccable work ethic, she was a valued employee of General Electric, transferring to Georgia in the 1970s. She retired from GE in 2002 with 34 years of dedicated service. She then worked part-time at the Newton County Recreation Department and volunteered at the Newton County Recreation & Senior Center. In 1988 Mrs. Hooker married Mr. Carl Hooker and became the proud step-mother of son Patrick. Mrs. Hooker was energetic, vibrant and fun-loving, always full of life. She was very loving, adorable, outgoing and compassionate. Her thoughtfulness and kindness were some of her most endearing qualities. Mrs. Hooker was an active member of Springfield Baptist Church, Conyers and the Red Hat Society in Covington. Mrs. Hooker has begun a new life in the presence of the Lord and left behind the things she cherished: her family, her friends and her church.

Surviving are her devoted husband Mr. Carl Hooker of Oxford; son and daughter-in-law Mr. Patrick (Kyria) Hooker of Lawrenceville; granddaughter Kayla Hooker; father Mr. Alston Emanuel of Atlanta; sisters Ms. Toni Emanuel of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Jacquie (Kirk) Rhodes of Scotch Plains, J.J.; nephew and godson Mr. Vernon Bain; niece Ms. Melissa Hudson; great-niece Brittny Bain, all of Orlando; a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services were held Dec. 22 at Springfield Baptist Church with Pastor Eric W. Lee Sr. officiating. Interment followed in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
