Arthur F. Lackey, Jr. of Oxford, passed away December 3, 2008, at the age of 86. A native of Georgetown, TX, and a ten year veteran of The United States Marine Corps he served during World War II on Midway Island and during the Korean War. He was employed with Sinclair Oil Co. and Atlantic Richfield Oil Co. for over 30 years. Mr. Lackey had a desire to learn and studied philosophy, physics, and religion until his death. He enjoyed all types of gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur F. Sr., and Lora Harrell Lackey. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Martha B. Lackey of Oxford; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynnell L. and Aaron F. Pass of Flowery Branch, Wynn and Michael Williams of Social Circle; grandchildren, Melinda W. Moore, Sarah P. Vogt, John T. Pass, Michael F. Pass; great-grandchildren, Ava Vogt, Sophia Vogt; several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service for Mr. Lackey will be held Sunday, December 7, 2008, 2:00 PM, in Lawnwood Memorial Park, with Rev. Mack McKibben officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., Sunday, from 12:30-1:30 PM.
