On July 13, 1936, the late Ms. Essie L. Hill and Mr. Walter Baker was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Annie Bell Hill affectionately called by her nickname Sula.

Annie Bell was raised and educated in Newton County. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Annie Bell never met a stranger, she always enjoyed talking to others and making friends to most.

At a very young age she joined Sims Chapel Baptist Church, which she often called her home church. Later in life, she relocated to Atlanta which she resided for several years. She joined Welcome Friends Baptist Church. She was a very active member and enjoyed serving and praising the Lord. She loved spending time with her family, traveling and shopping. She was a great homemaker as well, always looking to entertain family and friends.

 Annie Bell was employed by Edward’s Pie Company until her retirement. Later she decided to spend her time volunteering at Georgia Regional, which spanned for 17 years. She also worked at Sheltering Arms Daycare.

On April 10, 1982, she joined hands in matrimony with Mr. George Richardson, this union lasted for 35 years.

On Nov. 24, 2017, Annie Bell traded her earthly home for her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ms. Essie L. Hill and Mr. Walter Baker; four brothers, Mr. Edward (Sonny) Hill, Sr., Mr. Arthur Hill, Mr. Walter Baker and Mr. Ralph Baker and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Farley. 

She leaves to cherish her sweet memoires, a loving and devoted husband, George Richardson; three sons, Charles Hill, George Mathews, Andre Mathews, all of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Hill (Whom was the apple of her eye), Dorothy Robinson, Gloria Ashby, all of Covington, and George (Amy Ruth) Hamm, of Conyers; two brothers, Willie (Sherlean) Hill, of Covington, and Howard (Lavern) Baker, of Lithonia; brother-in-law, Arthur Farley, of Oxford and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held at noon Saturday, Dec. 2 at Sims Chapel Baptist Church, at 61 Sims Chapel Road, in Covington, with the Rev. Cecil J. Rozier and Rev. John L. Smith officiating.
