Ann Marie
Smith, 92, died in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Nov. 8, 2017 at Willow Brooke
Court at Park Pointe Village. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held
on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, 1 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
Ann was born in Atlanta, GA, where she lived for much of her life. In
retirement she and husband, Walter, lived in Crescent City, Welaka and Elkton, Florida.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Georgia State Patrol Headquarters
in Atlanta. In Florida and Atlanta, she was a service representative with
Southern Bell/Bell South.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter, and a grandson,
Damon. She is survived by two daughters, Jo Smith Hoskins (Charlie) of
Jacksonville Beach, Florida and Kathy Smith Pender (Robert) of Rock Hill, South
Carolina. She is also survived by three sons, David Smith (Carole) of Hartwell,
Doug Smith (Cynthia) of Savannah, and Tom Smith (Marty) of Covington. Her
survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice and
Community Care in Rock Hill, South Carolina or the Alzheimer's Association,
Georgia Chapter.
