A couple at the Magnolia Heights Apartment Complex was arrested following a family fight late Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived they saw 21-year-old Alicia Ansley standing on the stairwell with two car seats and two small children in tow. Since dispatch operators had told officers that witnesses reported a man throwing and kicking car seats, they asked Ansley where the man was who hit her; she reportedly told them he was in the apartment.

The door was locked, and after officers knocked a few times a man, matching the description given to dispatch by witnesses, cracked the apartment door open. Officers then saw a man later identified as 21-year-old Alvin Cole "clenching his fists and grunting in anger." Cole was subdued without problem and escorted outside. According to reports tears were coming from one of his eyes and he was visibly upset.

When asked, Ansley reportedly told officers that Cole had hit her and pulled her hair. Cole admitted hitting Ansley but said he did it after she hit him, which she allegedly admitted to.

Both were arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center and charged with disorderly conduct.
