YMCA Boot Camp: be careful what you ask for

The Covington YMCA is getting ready for a new session of Boot Camp under the direction of Instructor Crystal Hounschell. This program is available to members and non-members of the YMCA. Boot Camp is a 12-week program which meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:45 p.m. Boot Camp will begin its 12-week session on Friday, Jan. 25, and will conclude with participating as a group in the YMCA’s Annual Cheerios Challenge on April 17.

Course Instructor Hounschell is a certified AFAA group instructor and personal trainer. She designed and facilitated more than three different boot camp programs last year. Hounschell designed this program primarily around increasing strength and endurance through various workouts, focusing on different muscle groups each week.

"We are excited to offer this class for men and women of all fitness levels," said the Hounschell. "We do not want people to shy away because they feel they are not in good enough shape for this class — the idea is to push yourself to your own personal limit and use the class to get in shape. The class also challenges those already in top physical shape looking for something new. Each exercise can be done to challenge yourself, regardless of what the person next to you is able to do," said Hounschell. "It is thrilling to see participants reach their goals and realize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Put your fears and hesitations aside and come join us. Put your goals for the New Year into action."
