A Covington woman was arrested for the fourth time for shoplifting in Newton County Tuesday, this time at Kmart.

A store employee noticed Margaret Watkins, 26, take clothing and jewelry into the fitting room, then leave the store immediately after exiting the fitting room.

When the employee and the manager confronted Watkins about the missing merchandise, they discovered she had hidden them in her purse.

The grand total of the stolen merchandise was $87.67, all of which was returned to Kmart. A criminal history check on Watkins showed she has three prior arrests for shoplifting.

She was arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center.
