A 19-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening after she allegedly shoved a 6-year-old.

According to a Covington Police Department report, officers were called to a home on Oak Street by the child's mother, who told them that a neighbor, 19-year-old Juanita J. Fladger, had assaulted her son.

The child's mother told officers that the boy and Fladger had argued and that Fladger had grabbed the child by the shirt and thrown him to the ground. The officer's report noted that the child's shirt was torn and stretched and that there was mud on his arm.

Fladger told officers that the boy was cursing at her and that when she grabbed him by the shirt he tried to kick her and fell.

Officers were attempting to explain to Fladger that her actions were in violation of the law and she became "uncooperative and slightly aggressive by trying to talk over (the officer) and ignoring his warnings." When the officer explained that her actions were serious and that she could be arrested, Fladger folded her arms and turned away from the officers.

Despite several warnings, Fladger allegedly refused to cooperate with officers. When they informed her she was under arrest, she physically resisted, trying to pull her arms from officers and walk away. After several more warnings she finally placed her arms behind her back.

She was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the Newton County Detention Center.
