A 27-year-old woman was found running naked down Taylor Road around 6 a.m. Sunday. When authorities arrived, she told them she had escaped from her ex-boyfriend who had held her hostage and assaulted her.

Newton County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Cortney Morrison said that the woman told deputies she had allowed her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Raymond Medina, to come to her home Saturday. During the night Medina allegedly assaulted her throughout the night, put a gun to her head at one point and refused to let her leave. According to Morrison the victim told deputies that she was able to escape and had run out of her home to a neighbor's house for help.

Medina reportedly barricaded himself in the home when deputies came and the Covington/Newton County SWAT Team was called out. After several hours, Medina gave himself up without incident. He was taken to the Newton County Detention Center where he faces charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
