The Newton County Library System wants students to continue reading through the winter holiday and is offering a reading program to encourage children to do so.

Students ages 12 and under are invited to participate in a winter reading program that will continue until Dec. 31.

Participants can stop by any branch of the Newton County Library System to pick up a Winter Reading Log, then read four books and record them in the log.

When completed reading logs are returned to any Newton County branch, participants can register to win a grand prize.

The Newton County Library System will also offer the following programs:

• Tuesday, Dec. 10 Pajama Story Time at 5:30 p.m., Porter Memorial, 6191 Ga. Highway 212.

• Thursday, Dec. 12 - Pajama Story Time at 5:30 p.m., Covington, 7116 Floyd St.

• Monday, Dec. 16 - Pajama Story Time at 4 p.m., Newborn, 4224 Ga. Highway 142.

• Wednesday, Dec. 18 - Winter Movie at 4:30 p.m., Porter Memorial, 6191 Ga. Highway 212.

• Thursday December 19 - Winter Movie at 4:30 p.m., Covington, 7116 Floyd St.
