A wind advisory, issued by the National Weather Service out of Peachtree City, is now in effect until 6 P.M. this evening over much of central  Georgia including Covington.

A pressure gradient developing over Georgia will allow for sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph and wind gusts over 30 mph today. Wind gusts of 37 mph have already been reported at Atlanta. The winds will weaken around sunset as this gradient weakens.

The NWS advises drivers use caution, especially when driving tall or high profile vehicles.
