UPDATE: Paper deliveries after noon due to icy roads

UPDATE: While Interstate 20 may be passable, many of the side roads are still treacherous and covered in ice. Our carriers will attempt to begin delivery after 12 p.m. today. Some deliveries may stretch into Thursday morning, depending on the condition of the roads. Please bear with us as we work to get The Covington News to you as soon as is safely possible. (6:45 a.m.) Readers are waking up this morning to find a thin sheet of ice covering many roads in Newton County. First responders are having difficulty navigating this ice and are urging drivers to stay off the roads if possible. The Covington News carriers will begin delivery after 10 a.m. and will work as quickly as possible to bring your paper to you where it is safe to do so. Please use caution if you walk or drive outside today.
