ATLANTA - Georgia's Environmental Protection Division says the Air Quality Index for metropolitan Atlanta is 101.
The EPD says the Monday figure means Atlanta's air is unhealthy for sensitive groups, and it's issued an orange smog alert for the area.
The agency says children, people who are sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.
High temperatures are expected to be in the 80s on Monday and approaching 90 on Tuesday.
