MCDONOUGH, Ga. - Henry County police say two people have been charged with stealing bronze flower vases from a cemetery.

Police say the arrests were made after a McDonough police officer stopped a car that was going the wrong way down a county road early Wednesday.

Police say the officer found 36 bronze flower vases in the car. They say the vases had been taken from Eastlawn Cemetery in Henry County and are worth nearly $300 apiece.  Similar thefts were reported earlier in the year in Newton County.

Officials say 41-year-old Jodi Lynn Fraser of Forest Park and 43-year-old Douglas Guthrie of Winder are charged with theft by taking and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

Police have been investigating a rash of bronze vase thefts in the county.
