True Newton Blue

The Newton boys' basketball team honored Becky Rutledge, widow of former longtime administrator J.W. Rutledge, for donating new blazers and ties in a pre-game ceremony Tuesday. She donated a new set of the patented blue blazers and ties Newton players and coaches wear before games to replace the set the Rutledge family donated several years ago.

J.W. Rutledge was the long-time administrator who originally hired Rasmussen. J.W. Rutledge also hired legendary coach Ron Bradley back in the early 2000s before retiring. He played for Bradley at Newton County High School and was a member of the 1964 state championship team.

Becky Rutledge continues to be an avid Newton supporter. She thanked her family Leigh and Bill Rutledge, Kim and Jerry Elmore and Mary and W.K. Lunsford as well as Peggy and Johnny Capes.
