Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are on the look out for thieves who swiped trees last week from the yard of a home on Cambridge Drive.
According to the incident report, the victim said when he was walking his dog around 11 p.m. on Jan. 17, he saw the Cypress trees, which were planted next to the road near his home. He said when he woke up on Jan. 18, five trees were missing.
The responding deputy noted tire prints in the grass on the victim’s property and the five holes where the trees had been planted.
The victim said thieves hit his home before this incident.
Burglars hide stash nearby
Burglars who hit a home in Rosemoore Drive Jan. 19 hid their booty in a house under construction on Krestel Circle, where deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department discovered some of the stolen items and returned them to the owner.
According to the incident report, when the victim arrived home, he noticed his back door had been forced opened. When deputies arrived, the victim reported missing two flat screen televisions, a stand-alone speaker, a jar filled with $80 worth of change and a shirt.
While checking the vacant properties in the area, deputies discovered the televisions and the shirt in an empty home.
The items were returned to the owner.
Vandals stab seat
Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an incident where an unknown person broke into a car on Pebble Brooke Court and stabbed the seat with a knife.
According to the incident report, when the owners entered their car around 3 p.m., they discovered multiple cuts in the rear seat on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The car was parked in front of their home.
The victims said they could not think of anyone who could have committed the vandalism and nothing in the car was reported stolen.
