ATHENS, Ga. - Authorities in Athens say two football players from Carver High School in Columbus and an unidentified juvenile have been charged in connection with thefts from the University of Georgia football locker room.

The Magistrate's Court in Athens said 18-year-old Deion Bonner and 17-year-old Marquise T. Hawkins were charged Monday with theft by taking. Authorities identified the third person arrested only as being younger than 17.

Police reports say items totaling $1,990 were stolen on April 7 from the lockers of seven Georgia football players.

The court says Bonner, listed by rivals.com as being recruited as a cornerback by Georgia and other schools, posted $1,500 bond. It said Hawkins posted $3,000 bond.

The court did not have a record of either having an attorney. Carver Coach Del McGee declined comment.
