Three people were arrested Monday for trafficking in cocaine following an undercover investigation by the Covington/Newton County Special Investigation Unit.

After receiving several complaints of suspected drug activity from people in the area,  investigators began an undercover operation at a home on South Lake Drive. On Oct. 24 enough information had been gathered to execute a search warrant on the home.

Investigators reportedly found a trafficking amount of crack cocaine, as well as other paraphernalia used in connection with the sale of narcotics, according to an SUI representative. They arrested 30-year-old Angel Marie Starks, 37-year-old David Oneal Durham and 36-year-old Travis Tyrone Durham and charged them all with trafficking in cocaine. All three were transported to the Newton County Detention Center where they remain, as of press time.

SUI investigators confiscated roughly 40 grams of cocaine. Crack typically retails at about $8,500 an ounce, so with what was confiscated SIU netted about $12,000 worth of cocaine from the home on South Lake Drive.
