A 19-year-old teen is in jail, facing charges that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl who snuck out of her home to meet him.
Michael James Blackmore is in the Newton County Jail, facing charges of sexual battery, enticing a child for indecent purposes, aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation.
According to Newton County Sheriff's Office Lt. Keith Crum, two 14-year-old girls snuck out of their homes and went to Blackmore's residence in Oxford. He reportedly gave them some pills - which they took - and the girls stayed at his home that night.
One of the teens reported to her parent(s) that Blackmore touched her inappropriately during the evening. The next morning she said that Blackmore yelled at them both to get out of his house and they left. When the girl told her parent(s) about the incident, they contacted the sheriff's office.
Crum said the incident allegedly occurred on June 2 between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. but was not reported to authorities until June 27. Blackmore was arrested July 21 following an investigation.
