Woman accused of PTA thefts due in court

ATLANTA (AP) - A woman accused of stealing more than $57,000 from an Atlanta elementary school PTA is scheduled to make her first court appearance.

WSB Radio reports (http://bit.ly/JBhnk9) that 48-year-old Maryam Arjomand is set to appear in court Tuesday after she surrendered to authorities.

Arjomand is charged with felony theft by taking. East Rivers Elementary School PTA Co-President Elise Lowty reported the missing money to Atlanta police on March 7. Most of the funds have been recovered.

Arjomand's attorney could not be reached.
