GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the drowning of a 16-month-old boy who fell into a swimming pool at a home in the northeast Georgia community of Clermont.

The Times reports (http://bit.ly/1jnUzVP) that the child died Wednesday after falling into the pool.

Hall County sheriff's officials said in a statement that resuscitation efforts were attempted on the child, who was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

Clermont is about 65 miles northeast of Atlanta.
