WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a teacher in Warner Robins is facing a battery charge following a fight in his classroom.

The Telegraph reports (http://bit.ly/1x3Dg3r) that 56-year-old teacher Daniel B. Kelly was jailed Monday afternoon on a charge of simple battery, a misdemeanor. Kelly teaches social studies and is also a wrestling coach at Northside High School in the central Georgia town.

A Warner Robins police report states that officers were dispatched to the school on Dec. 1 for "an altercation." No other information was given in the report.

Houston County school system spokeswoman Beth McLaughlin said Kelly has been an educator for 26 years, mostly at Northside High.

The Telegraph reports that no working phone number could be found for Kelly. It wasn't known early Wednesday whether he has an attorney.
