AUGUSTA (AP) - The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has announced another firing at the Augusta Youth Development Campus.

State officials said Tuesday that a corrections officer was dismissed after he'd been suspended with pay while investigators looked into allegations of an "inappropriate" relationship with a resident of the center.

The Augusta Chronicle reports the employee is the ninth worker to be fired at the youth center since November. Two others were demoted and offered positions at different facilities.

The state agency has been working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate several issues at the center. Their investigation began after the November beating death of 19-year-old Jade Holder, who was a resident of the center.
