ATLANTA (AP) — Forecasters say a mix of rain and snow is possible at higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Monday morning for much of the mountains, including areas in and around Dalton, Dahlonega, Cleveland and Blairsville.
The rain-snow mix is possible mainly above elevations of 1,500 feet, and forecasters say black ice could form on some roadways.
Forecasters say the winter weather advisory -- which includes more than a dozen counties in north Georgia -- is scheduled to be in effect until noon Monday.
Meanwhile, a wind advisory covered much of the state, including Atlanta, Gainesville, Athens, LaGrange, Columbus, Macon, Americus, Augusta, Dublin and Vidalia. Gusts of up to 35 mph were expected through 3 p.m. Monday.
