ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - University of Georgia police say they've found two dead animals on top of the same grave at a Jackson Street cemetery in the past month.

UGA police Lt. Eric Dellinger tells the Athens Banner-Herald that a groundskeeper called police after finding a disturbed grave shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday.

Dellinger said investigators uncovered a white cat in a white plastic bag buried on top of the grave.

Police said the groundskeeper also discovered a dead dog on top of the same grave on July 21. Dellinger said police don't know how the animals died.

Dellinger said he isn't sure who is buried in the grave - or whether that has anything to do with why the animals were placed at that spot. He said they're "all established, old graves."
