ATLANTA (AP) — The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change has more than a week of events planned to celebrate the upcoming King holiday.

The King Center plans to kick off the festivities with a reception Friday evening. The celebration will culminate Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the annual commemorative service at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

The keynote speaker for that service is Gwendolyn Boyd, president of Alabama State University in Montgomery. David Oyelowo, who plays King in the new movie "Selma," is slated for a special tribute, and the Rwandan ambassador to the United States, Mathilde Mukantabana, is to give a special greeting.

During the annual Salute to Greatness awards dinner on Dec. 17, the King Center plants to honor former President Bill Clinton and Kaiser Permanente.
