ATLANTA (AP) — Representatives for the film and television industry say they regularly struggle to find crew members in Georgia and have to fly staff in from other states.

That can minimize the benefit of incentives that have caused a boom in filming for Georgia, they told state officials during a listening session Monday.

Last year, the film and TV industry spent $933.9 million on projects produced in Georgia, with a total economic impact of $3.3 billion according to state Department of Economic Development estimates.

Production companies say they need experienced and well trained people to work as special effects technicians, costumers and stunt team members.

Georgia, Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office Director Lee Thomas says state and education officials will work with the industry to address the workforce concerns.
