MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Police in suburban Atlanta say a man whose 22-month-old son died after being left in a hot SUV for hours has been charged with felony murder.
Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce said in a statement Thursday that 33-year-old Justin Ross Harris is also charged with cruelty to children in his son's death.
Authorities have said Harris was supposed to drive his son to daycare, but instead drove straight to work and didn't realize the boy was strapped into his car seat until the ride home Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures in the metro Atlanta area reached the low 90s on Wednesday.
Harris is being held without bond in the Cobb County jail. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
