ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's airport plans to open a cell phone waiting lot where people will be able to wait for arriving passengers to get to the curb.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/wEamrg) that the 160-space lot will open Thursday. Drivers will be able to wait there for free, but won't be allowed to leave vehicles unattended. The lot for the South terminal will be located at the east end of the park-ride reserve lot.

Atlanta airport general manager Louis Miller says he hopes cell phone lots will reduce congestion at the curb caused by cars circling the airport as they wait. His goal is to open three cell phone lots at the airport - one each for the south, north and international terminals.

Many other U.S. airports already have cell phone lots.
