ATLANTA (AP) - Officials say an Atlanta middle school student is recovering after he was shot in the eye with a BB gun as he rode home on a school bus.

Khalil Thomas tells WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/3zVcAZ) that he was riding the bus from Ralph Bunche Middle School Friday when he heard a popping noise and felt something hit his eye.

Khalil's older sister, Amelia Thomas, said she took Khalil to the hospital when she got a call about what happened. She said the doctor told her the BB scratched Khalil's cornea, blurring his vision.

WSB reported that Atlanta Public School officials couldn't be reached for comment about the incident.
