DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say nine people have been injured in a crash involving at least two tractor trailers on I-285 in DeKalb County.

DeKalb fire Captain Eric Jackson told local media outlets those who were hurt in the Monday afternoon crash suffered minor to moderate injuries and are being treated at local hospital. The crash happened near Memorial Drive and East Ponce De Leon Avenue.

It's unclear exactly how many cars were involved in the crash and the cause of the accident is under investigation. Jackson told WSB-TV that a sudden rain downpour may have factored into the crash.

The crash prompted lane closures, which led to traffic backups just before afternoon and evening rush hour.
